Yay – some skiing this year after all

  • September 16th, 2008

I’d reconciled myself to missing skiing this year.

Hope of 18 October had faded. The traditional lifts closing date would have left  Labour Weekend for a rejuvenating ski trip after a campaign ending on 18 October.

An unprecedented 5m snow base would allow for liftless ski touring anyway, but I may not be fit enough after weeks of yak yak yak.

Now Turoa lifts will work till 16 November to take advantage of that base. That will leave one week for Cathy and me to go spring skiing after the election on 8 November.

There are some upsides to climate change.

Stephen so do we all.
At least you’re in the ring now, so we can look forward to more well thought out, straight talk not duplicious platitudes from your leader like the family first event in Auckland.

Obviously not banking on being an MP after Nov 8, then Stephen? Or just not a very effective one?

[Careful Sally – remember nanny likes to ski – she might track you down – might not help your career in Labour?]

By “nanny” I assume you mean Helen Clark? I doubt, the week after the election, she will be on the ski fields, Stephen.

But you can play attack politics if you like.

BTW – I would imagine my political philosophies might be a bigger barrier to a “career in Labour” than comments on a National Party blog.
