EPMU OK to breach EFA, but not Sensible Sentencing

  • August 25th, 2008

The Standard’s contemptibility is shown in its frothing about the Sensible Sentencing Trust’s determination not to let the EFA gag it during this election.

That post follows immediately on the Standard’s apologia for the EPMU’s attack on its own offficial (Shawn Tan) for daring to think for himself politically.

That is the same EPMU that announced it would ignore the court and campaign anyway if an appeal went against them on the question whether they are prohibited from registering as a third party under the EFA, because of involvement with Labour.

The Standard pretends  also to have heard of speculation about a deal between National and Sensible Sentencing.

"There is also speculation they want to run parallel campaigns for National and Stephen Franks’ nomination for Wellington central was part of the Sensible Sentencing Trust’s deal on this’"

If only I’d known as much as the Standard before list ranking.

[…] Stephen Franks has responded with a post on his blog detailing the SST’s donors and political partners. Nah, only joking. […]

Who is paying your campaign costs, Mr Franks? Is the SST assisting you in any way at all? if so, what will you do for them in return? I think we should be told.

A questioner called “Anonymous” seeks transparency!
Nevertheless, I’ll answer. My campaign costs are being met by literally hundreds of donors and myself.
There has never been any suggestion of Sensible Sentencing funding. The victims they help need it more than my campaign so I would not have it any other way.
I’ll work for those victims in the future as I have in the past.

The ‘anonymous’ above is typical of the petty snide comments coming from the left.

We could comment that every politician has a hidden agenda, Labour no less than anybody else. Everybody has some personal views which may not be party policy, likely not politcally acceptable. which we only mention when talking to freinds … unlike the scumbag at the national Party meeting.

I find it sadly amusing that around half of those polled believe the crap Labour is putting out about the National Party’s SA as if they were virtuous … pull the other leg.

I don’t in general support the SST except for their support of the victims. They usually sound like a bunch of red-necks.
